Water For Municipality
Groundwater often contains dissolved minerals at concentrations that make it unsuitable for most domestic use and hence, the need to remove these contaminants to render the water drinkable.
The task here is usually to remove the following contaminants:
- Remove turbidity and suspended solids from water, coarse particles to colloids
- Absorb and remove colour, odour and tastes
- Organic and inorganic contaminants
- Removal of iron, manganese, arsenic, and other heavy metals
- Neutralize water acidity
Through constant research and thanks to our wealth of field experience, we have perfected leading–edge technologies in the municipal water supply sector, capable of meeting the drinking water requirements of homes, small communities and/or large cities.
We can design and supply customized units for large applications and complete packaged systems either mounted on skid or installed inside containers.
These systems are often designed along this configuration;
(1) collection
(2) coagulation and flocculation
(3) sedimentation and clarification
(4) oxidation
(5) filtration
(6) disinfection
(7) storage which we do often customize to meet the dictates of the site-specific raw water.
Our solution to produce portable water includes a wide range of equipment from which we make selections to customize systems for our clients:
Aeration towers / Degassers
These are designed to reduce the concentration of dissolved gases in water such as methane, carbon dioxide and Hydrogen Sulphide. They also oxidize iron and manganese in water. Degassers are installed above water collection tanks.
Disinfection
This is the removal, deactivation or killing of microorganisms in water. The target is usually to halt their growth and reproduction.
Chemical and Physical disinfection can be achieved by:
- Chlorine (Cl₂)
- Chlorine dioxide (Cl0₂)
- Ozone
- UV (Ultraviolet) disinfection ETC
Filtration
Filtration is the removal of particulate matter from water by forcing the water to pass through porous media. It also involves the adsorption of undesired colours, tastes and odours and organic pollutants.
Plant design is usually targeted at the elimination of iron and manganese as they are mostly present in groundwater in their dissolved state and when exposed to oxygen, they precipitate causing coloration.
We offer filters for both households, commercial and industrial applications. They are available in FRP, and carbon steel protected by anti–corrosion coatings.
On the industrial filters, the automatic cycles of service and backwash are regulated by a group of diaphragm hydraulic valves driven by a hydraulic pilot that, in turn, is controlled by an electronic logic programmer.
